History

Peckham Shed was set up by Chickenshed Theatre Company in September 2004; we were established as part of the London Challenge Programme in partnership with the Peckham Academy.

Peckham Shed is now part of an ever-growing number of independent 'Sheds' working by the Chickenshed inclusive creative method.

In 2006 Peckham Shed became a Charity (registered charity number: 1116522).

Peckham Shed runs weekly performing arts workshops for children and young people aged 7 - 17 from Peckham and the surrounding areas.

Peckham Shed aims to provide an environment of inclusiveness and support which allows all young people to get involved in the creation and production of performance arts. Through structured activities involving music, drama and movement our members develop performing arts skills, gain a sense of achievement and discover new abilities through positive and empowering experiences.

Peckham Shed is run by a dedicated team of part time theatre professionals and support volunteers. Our sessions are run from The Harris Academy @ Peckham, each Wednesday evening.

As well as working towards performances and achievement levels we help our members to access cultural activity in the borough and beyond, through regular trips.
We encourage our older members to gain training and become leaders themselves, initially as CT Support within our Children’s theatre sessions and later as fully fledged practitioners.
