Peckham Shed is thrilled to have been chosen to be supported by funds raised from tickets sales for this exciting event by the Animal Art Fair’s chosen charity – The Angus Lawson Memorial Trust.

Please join us for this exclusive private event from 6pm – 9.30pm on 17th May 2012 at the Riverside Walk Way, South Bank. Tickets are £30 which includes entry to the exhibition, a complimentary drink and canapés on arrival and entertainment by the Peckham Shed team! All money raised from ticket sales will go directly to Peckham Shed to support our upcoming creative summer school and Creative Mentor’s scheme.

Peckham Shed’s first choir

This term we start a whole new project at Peckham Shed… the Peckham Shed Community Choir. At a brilliant try-out session before Christmas an eager group of carollers learnt to sing and sign Silent Night. Now it’s your turn to get involved.

We’ll be learning new songs on the first Sunday afternoon of every month, from 2.30pm to 4pm at Peckham Settlement. To join, just turn up on the day or to find out more email choir@peckhamshed.com or call 07878 686 911.

Our young people don’t just create beautiful theatre shows – they make friends, learn about each other’s cultures and support each other to grow in confidence.

New Peckham Shed term dates

Our new term of exciting and inclusive theatre workshops for children and young people will begin again in January 2012.

Children’s Theatre 1 term dates run from Tuesday 17 January – Tuesday 27 March.

Children’s Theatre 2 term dates run from Thursday 19 January – Thursday 29 March.

Our Youth Theatre group term dates run from Wednesday 18 January – Wednesday 28 March.

Peace wall update

We have removed the messges that had spread out on the windows of Peckham but don’t worry – they’ve all been collected up and saved. We’re also going to start taking down the boards and moving them somewhere safe where they’ll be fully documented and recorded (by typing them all up and taking many many photographs) before we work out how to present them in a more permanent way.

We’re looking for people to help us make an archive of all these beautiful messages so if you have a few free hours next Friday 26th August and fancy coming to join us please get in touch – info@peckhamshed.com

We’d love to say a huge huge thank you to Poundland who have been just wonderful in allowing us to continue to gather positive messages for Peckham and a big thank you to Whitten Timber who donated some boards to us (and helped us put them up!)

Congratulations to all the groups who took part in the showing at Harris Academy on Tuesday December 8th. It was amazing to see what you’ve been working on this term and share it with your family and friends. What a way to kick off the Christmas season.

It takes just a few minutes to vote but could make a massive difference to the future of Peckham Shed.

Please consider voting for Peckham Shed in the Natwest Community Force challenge. If we win we will receive a funding grant for up to £6000 which would enable us to support more young people from Peckham. VOTE HERE!

Peckham Shed has a waiting list for participants. We would love to welcome more young people to join us, but we can’t do this without more staff. £6,000 would give us the chance to employ a Project Manager to look after our existing volunteers, help recruit new ones, work in our community to encourage more young people to get involved and help mentor our Company group members.

It will only take a minute of your time to vote for Peckham Shed in the NatWest Community Force challenge, but it will make a world of difference to the many more young people in Peckham we will be able to work with because of your support.
